Selling Templates with Clipart: PSD, Canva & Printables Licensing Guide

Editable templates are everywhere now – Canva designs, Photoshop files, printable planners, classroom worksheets, and more. If you love WondersArtist clipart, it is very natural to wonder how far you can go with templates that your buyers can edit.

This guide explains, in calm, simple language, how templates work with WondersArtist licensing: what is allowed, what is not, and how to keep your products safely on the “template” side instead of becoming a raw graphics pack.

Note: this article is general information, not legal advice. It focuses on how templates fit with the WondersArtist License so you can sell with confidence on Etsy, Creative Fabrica, your own website, and more.

• You can use WondersArtist clipart in editable templates (PSD, AI, Affinity, Canva, PowerPoint, etc.) that you sell to end customers.

• You may not sell or share our clipart as standalone files or in a separate /assets folder of PNGs, SVGs, brushes, etc.
• If your template naturally exposes the layers (because that’s how templates work), you must include a short end-user notice explaining that they can’t extract our graphics to build their own “graphics packs”.
• As long as you are selling templates or finished designs – not a big pile of loose PNGs – you are on the right track.

📚 What Counts as a Template vs. End Product?

What is a template?

A template is a file your customer can open in an app and customize – for example:

• A Canva Pinterest template where they swap text and photos.
• A PSD wedding invitation where they change names and colors.
• A PowerPoint/Keynote slide deck your students can edit.
• A GoodNotes planner layout where they add their own notes and stickers.

The key idea: your buyer edits the design to make their own finished piece.

What is an end product?

An end product is the finished thing your buyer uses or sells on again, such as:

• Printed invitations, cards, tags and stickers.
• Digital wall art, social media graphics, or mockups.
• PDF planners, journals, classroom worksheets, and workbooks.

With WondersArtist, you may create unlimited end products (physical and digital) and also templates that help your customers create their own end products – as long as you are not redistributing our graphics as a standalone asset library.

✅ What WondersArtist Allows with Templates

The WondersArtist License is intentionally friendly to template sellers. In short, you are allowed to:

• Create unlimited editable templates (PSD, AI, Affinity, Canva, PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.) using WondersArtist clipart.
• Sell those templates on Etsy, your own shop, Creative Fabrica, teacher marketplaces, and similar sites.
• Deliver templates as editable files (e.g., PSD/AI/Canva link) plus flattened exports (JPG/PNG/PDF) if you wish.
• Use templates for your own brand or client work.

Those rights apply to all validly licensed WondersArtist graphics – including clipart, watercolor clipart, digital papers, and journal pages – whether you purchased them individually or downloaded them during an active All Access Membership.

What you cannot do is turn our art into something that behaves like a graphics library other people can mine for raw elements. That’s where the “no /assets folder” rule comes in.

🛠 Templates in Canva, PSD/AI & Other Apps

Canva templates

You may create Canva templates that contain WondersArtist graphics, including:

• Social media post packs (Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, etc.).
• Planners, journals, checklists and workbooks.
• Flyers, posters, invitations, business cards and more.

Your customers may edit these Canva designs for their own personal or commercial end products, but they may not extract the clipart to build their own graphics packs or upload into other asset libraries.

Photoshop, Illustrator & Affinity templates (PSD/AI)

Layered files are also fine – in fact, that is where WondersArtist clipart shines. You can:

• Keep flowers, characters, banners and backgrounds on separate layers.
• Provide color-change options, alternate compositions, and editable text.
• Allow your customer to move elements around within the design.

The important boundary: your PSD/AI template should feel like a design starting point, not a tidy folder of 100 isolated PNGs ready to be grabbed and reused in any context.

PowerPoint, Google Slides & other layout apps

You may also use WondersArtist art in slide decks, lesson templates, and other layout files. Again, the same rule applies: the file is a template for a finished presentation or worksheet, not an excuse to hand someone a downloadable art library.

🚫 Why You Can’t Include an “Assets” Folder of PNGs

This is the single biggest licensing mistake template sellers make, so let’s keep it very clear:

You are not allowed to include a separate folder of standalone WondersArtist graphics with your product.

That means no:

• /assets/clipart folder full of PNGs or JPGs.
• “Bonus graphics pack” that is basically just our original elements.
• Brush, stamp, or sticker collections that recreate our packs in a new format for general reuse.

Why? Because that turns your listing into a graphics pack – which competes directly with the original clipart and lets buyers skip licensing our art properly. The WondersArtist License allows you to create end products and templates, not to redistribute our files as new stock artwork.

It is perfectly okay if customers can see and move the clipart inside your template. What you are avoiding is a situation where they can simply download a folder of clean, cut-out PNGs and use them exactly as if they purchased a clipart bundle.

📄 Required End-User Notice (Copy & Paste)

Because templates naturally expose layers, we ask that you add a simple notice in two places:

• In your product description on the marketplace listing.
• Inside your ZIP or download (for example in a “Read Me” PDF or TXT file).

You can copy and paste this text:

End-User Notice: This template contains elements licensed from WondersArtist. You may edit and use the template for personal or commercial end products. You may not resell or share the graphics as standalone files or create your own “graphics packs” from them.

This tiny paragraph keeps expectations clear for your buyers and shows platforms (Etsy, Creative Fabrica, etc.) that you are handling third-party art responsibly.

🧺 Safe Listing Examples (and Risky Ones)

Example 1 – Safe: Canva Instagram Post Pack

Includes: 30 Canva templates with floral clipart backgrounds and text boxes. No separate PNG folder.

Why it’s safe: Buyers can edit the layouts and text to create their own posts, but they are not receiving a detachable clipart pack.

Example 2 – Safe: PSD Wedding Invitation Suite

Includes: Layered PSD files for invitation, RSVP, and details card using WondersArtist florals.

Why it’s safe: Clipart is built into the layouts. Buyers may tweak the design, but the product is clearly a stationery suite, not a graphics bundle.

Example 3 – Risky: “Canva Template + Bonus PNG Set”

Includes: A few Canva templates AND a ZIP with 80 individual flower PNGs sourced from WondersArtist.

Why it’s not allowed: The “bonus PNG set” is just a re-packaged clipart bundle. This redistributes our art as standalone files and competes with the original product.

Example 4 – Risky: “Editable GoodNotes Sticker Book” with Exportable PNGs

Includes: A GoodNotes file plus a folder of every sticker as a separate PNG or SVG.

Why it’s not allowed: The GoodNotes file used as a planner or sticker sheet is fine. The extra folder of raw PNG stickers is not.

Example 5 – Safer Alternative to 3 & 4

• Keep all elements inside the template (Canva file, PSD, GoodNotes book).
• Offer multiple themed pages or colorways inside the same template instead of giving loose graphics.
• Always add the end-user notice so buyers know they are purchasing a template, not a clipart license.

Can my buyers sell templates that they create from your template?

No. Your customers may use the template to create finished end products (cards, graphics, PDFs, etc.), but they may not resell WondersArtist graphics in new templates, graphics packs, or asset libraries. If they want to sell templates with WondersArtist art, they should license the clipart directly.

Can I merge WondersArtist art with my own drawings or text?

Yes. You can combine clipart with your illustrations, photos, and typography. The same rules still apply: the final product must be a template or end product, not a replacement graphics pack.

What about free templates?

You may share free templates (for example as lead magnets or classroom resources), as long as you still follow the license rules: no standalone asset folder, and include the same end-user notice so people do not extract the art for resale.
